Shiloh is generally understood as a place of rest, and or a sanctuary. In addition, the Hebrew Text states that the original small village of Shiloh was where the “Ark of Covenant” was placed for safe keeping – that is to say “The Place Where God Lived.”
This past month I have had the opportunity and privilege of meeting many of you in worship, Church meetings, and in individual conversations. I have left many of these discussions with the same thought, “If only Shiloh United Methodist Church
could rediscover that sense of hope that comes from being the place where God lives”.
I understand that we are all human and sometimes our perceptions of what might or might not have happened influence our understanding of where God is in our lives.
The scriptures remind us that God’s love is and always will be total, complete and unconditional love. God will love us regardless of what we think, or what we do, yet the scriptures also tell us that God doesn’t always like or even tolerate how we respond to one another. I believe that God wants us to pray for one another and make God’s Church, Shiloh United Methodist Church, that place where God wants to live!
God of Love, Hope and Joy: Let Shiloh United Methodist Church be a place of rest, a sanctuary. A place where everyone can come to discover your love! A place to simply be in Your presence. Please help us to be the kind of Christians you want us to be, so we can make Your Home a place where you really want to live. Amen.
